First Killer Bunny got to his target!

So I’m still alive in the Killer Bunny swap!

Hybrid Franken Bunny (Ravelry link to project) made it in time.

Killer Franken Bunny #1

My favorite part is the giant fluffy tail. The pattern calls for a smaller crocheted tail, but Frankie needed a giant tail to enhance his ninja skills.

Next up: Killer Bunny 2 (Ravelry link to project).

Every day I expect a small assassin to be waiting in the mail and every day I’m alive one more day.

We’ll see how long it lasts. With being sick and having to re-start, KB2 is off to a slow start. I also should have started sooner, but I didn’t know if Frank would make it in time and I wanted to finish the Cozy Socks.

My first pair of socks

I said I wouldn’t knit any socks. I knew that I would totally suffer from second sock syndrome, so I never even considered knitting socks. Then I learned magic loop while knitting
my son’s armor
. Suddenly socks didn’t seem so bad.

These are the tutorial socks from “2-at-time Socks” by Melissa Morgan-Oakes.

My first pair of socks

I don’t know when I’ll make a pair of real socks that would someone in my family. Jesse wants me to knit armor for his friend, so that will my next magic loop project.

Overall, this was a good project. There’s a lot of new stuff, including doing Kitchener stitch for the first time.

EDITED: Added photos with the sock monster. How cool is it that the designer of the socks commented on my post! SQUEE!

Two-Hour Purse Decorated and Ready-to-Go!

I finished up the two-hour purse by using hand-painted roving and my needle-felting tools and freeforming some cool swirls. Bailey picked the roving because she wants the purse as a present for her birthday.

Here’s the Front:

and the back:

I also felted a circular shape that I knitted with the leftover yarn. Jesse wants it for his birthday, why I don’t know he just likes getting stuff I guess….

A Busy Friday and Saturday

Friday night we went to the kids’ school to check out their science fair projects.

Jesse and his science fair project on Frogs

Jesse’s project was about the stages of tadpole development. Unfortunately, all the tadpoles died to they got a frog that still had a bit of a tail.

Bailey and her friend did Volcanos.

Saturday night, I got lots of knitting time while Brook was out with a friend and the kids were at Grandma’s. I put on an audiobook and cast on my Two-Hour Purse for Year of Wonders. I would have worked on my other projects, but, alas, they were left in the car and silly me didn’t feel like finding shoes and going out to get them (the problem with not having an attached garage!)

But, I got the purse all knitted up

And today, I felted it while waiting for emails from work.

Once it’s dry, I’m going to add decoration with my roving and needle-felting tools. πŸ™‚

Happy Leap Day – Green Bunny Blanket is done!

Green Blanket Buddy done!

A little more than a week before K returns to work and I got the green blanket buddy done! And in February as well. I guess it’s kind of fitting that a bunny project would be finished on leap day.

Another project done for year of wonders!

I was going to post last night about my awesome packages waiting for me when I got home, but after spending 1/2 hour getting hung up on by the insurance co’s IVR while trying to make a claim for my car I kind of ran out of blogging energy.

Squee! Loopy Ewe AND Knit Picks packages on the same day!

I’m not sure what I’ll do with these goodies: Malabrigo Lace Yarn in Cypress and Mariposa.

Malabrigo - Mariposa

Of course, Little Loopy is hanging out with frank. Jesse wanted to keep him, but I said Nope, he’s mine! πŸ™‚

Got a little Loopy in the mail

And, my Knit Picks package contained my Options set I’ve been lusting after for months… I bought some extra cables and two sizes of the Harmony tips. Can’t wait to use them on a new project.

I also bought some Cotlin to use for my washcloth project in Year of Wonders. Not sure what I’ll do with my Merino or Wool of the ndes. The Navy Wool of the Andes — yes, I did buy some yarn that wasn’t green — will be for one of the felting projects in the book, just haven’t gotten to deciding yet.

Giant Bunny Blanket – Done and Discarded

Stupid crappy yarn keeps breaking… After the third time I realized that it wouldn’t hold up to being played with, so I finished up what I could, took photos and threw it away. OK, that part hurt….

Giant Bunny Blanket - Done and Discarded

Oh well, at least the yarn was on clearance when I bought it and I wasn’t making this for anyone specific. Still, I hate to make something and then have to discard it. Maybe if I bind off where the head starts, the cat can use it to sleep on.

iPhone Case

Crocheted using Noro Sumile. Had to do something until my actual skin gets here from Amazon on Friday….

Tried to knit it, but it just wouldn’t be happy.

I also decided to add a wrist strap so that it would be a little more functional.
