Octopus, Octopus, Why are you a scarf?

“I want to be Bob Dylan
Mr. Jones wishes he was someone just a little more funky
When everybody loves you, son,
that’s just about as funky as you can be”

– Counting Crows, Mr. Jones

I think this is fairly funky, at least the pattern. Hope my scarf partner loves ocean life, because an octopus will be heading that way…

Funky scarf swap finished!

A long scarf that drapes quite well but looks great wrapped around your neck, as the scribble monster demonstrates.

Scribble monster loves the octopus scarf

Knitting Adventurer

What Kind of Knitter Are You?

You appear to be a Knitting Adventurer. You are through those knitting growing pains and feeling more adventurous. You can follow a standard pattern if it’s not too complicated and know where to go to get help. Maybe you’ve started to experiment with different fibers and you might be eyeing a book with a cool technique you’ve never tried. Perhaps you prefer to stick to other people’s patterns but you are trying to challenge yourself more. Regardless of your preference, you are continually trying to grow as a knitter, and as well you should since your non-knitting friends are probably dropping some serious hints, these days.http://marniemaclean.com

What else would you like your partner to know about you?
I have a 7-yr-old daughter who LOVES pink/purple and a 5-yr-old son who’s into blue/red. If you’d have more fun making for them, that’s OK with me too!

More finished objects!

I made my son a new hat and got about 2/3 way through a hat for the girl!

Orange/blue/yellow mix for J. I want to take a photo with it on him.

B’s getting a pink girly-style hat.

I also made a scarf and a hat from recycled yarn from a sweater. The scarf turned out awesome. The hat is not good for me, which I was hoping it would be. This hat totally need long hair, or full hair or something like that under it, which I just don’t have.

I’ll post photos later.

I also got two packages in the mail today. Two more hands for taking photos of jewelry and yarn FOs! Very cool! I’m very excited to get them.

Also got 3 new knitting books from Amazon. Stitch N Bitch Knitter’s Handbook, One Skein Wonder and The Gift Knitter (for babies and pets). Don’t think the turtle would like anything knitted and he goes back to the school in a couple of weeks.

Off to bed!

knitting, and more knitting, and more knitting!

I’ve started working on a shawl for the freezing days at work! It feels like I’ve been knitting this forever and ever! I’m close to the end of the ball of yarn and then I discovered another ball! I’ll have to decide if I want to keep going once I finish.

I’m also working on making bailey belt out of this really cool bamboo yarn I picked up off the clearance rack at joann’s!

My First Knitted object!

Oddly enough, I learned to knit when I was on vacation over the weekend. I coaxed my husband to take me to the yarn store in Blue Ridge, GA to buy some more yarn for crocheting and the lady said she’d show my daughter how to knit. The next day, DH dropped us off and I learned how to knit while DD swept the floors and straightened up the magazines! She got bored of learning how to knit really quickly.

So, I learned how. I finished my first knitted object this morning. It was going to be a scarf, but I got bored and decided to make it an ipod/blackberry cozy.

Check it out!
