Jesse’s Battle Bonnet

Jesse's Battle Bonnet

The battle bonnet is now done!

It “only” took four tries, including the ill-fated Dwarven Battle Yamulka, which Bailey stole for her stuffed animals.

So, one down and two more to go. Jesse also wants the Blond version and Ben wants one as well.

Next up will be some more subtle wrist warmers to wear at work. The striped ones get me odd looks sometimes and I don’t feel they are suitable to wear to meetings unless I happen to wear my purple sweater.

Jesse was having too much fun posing in it so it was hard to get a good photo.

UPDATED: Once it was blocked, Jesse decided he wanted the nasal bar on this one, so it has a tad bit further to go.

The yummy GF noodles mom makes me….

Homemade Noodles Recipe from the Better Homes and Gardens New Cookbook
(1968 version)

Combine:    1 beaten egg,
                    1/2 teaspoon salt,
                    2 Tablespoons milk
Add:            1 CUP sifted all purpose flour or enough to make a stiff

Roll dough very thin on floured surface, let stand 2 minutes
Roll up loosely and slice 1/4 inch wide.  Unroll; spread out and let dry
for 2 hours.

Drop into boiling soup or boiling, salted water and cook uncovered about
10 minutes.
Makes 3 cups cooked noodles.

I use this recipe to make Turkey and dumplings (noodles).  I usually
double the recipe.  I mix the dough and go ahead and roll it out.  I cut
it into the noodles and go ahead and drop them into the Boiling salted
broth.  They make a soft dumpling when cooking them this way.
Gluten Free Version:
I substituted whatever brand of Gluten Free Flour was on hand and had
good success.

Revisiting Old Favorites

I’ve been using the new features in iTunes 8 to put all my audiobook MP3 and video files into their correct categories. Very sweet…

While consolidating my mp3 files from 3 external hard drives and 2 computers, I lost a lot of my individual song ratings so I’ve been doing a lot of listening to things on shuffle to find loved songs hiding in albums and artists I rarely listen to (like “Joey” from Concrete Blonde.

Also discovered the Album Rating feature, so I’ve been listening to Crash Test Dummies today, remembering seeing them at Six Flags when Brook and I were dating.

Lego Kids

The kids are having lots and lots of fun with legos. They hate getting their picture taken and asked Nana to take this one.

Lego Kids

Labor Day weekend, the kids and Brook went to eat at Red Robin while I had to do an emergency press release launch. Jesse got a balloon and when they were walking back to the car he was letting it go and then catching it before it got away. One time he almost didn’t grab it in time and he said, “Daddy, I almost did something bad for the environment.”

HP :)

I found a post from last year in the drafts folder….

July 22, 2007

HP Book 7 was supposed to come yesterday. Unfortunately, we were heading out at lunchtime to go to a friend’s house about 45 minutes away. When it was time to go, still no HP book. I left a note on the front door say “Please leave my Harry Potter book on the front porch” because I was afraid the UPS guy would require a signature.

Then we stopped at Sam’s on the way to the party to pick up some tasty desserts for our part of the festivities. We walked in the door and there was a ginormous pallet of the books. I just had to touch one, then I instantly couldn’t wait. It was finally real that the last book was out and the answers would just taunting me that I couldn’t get them soon. I was good though and didn’t pick up the book, though I was sorely tempted.

We ended up buying a Strawberry cake and Harry Potter cupcakes! Brook didn’t really want to get the HP cupcakes but caved because the kids were so excited. They turned out to be very popular at the party. All the kids wanted the rings off of them!

I also walked out of Sam’s with a copy of Book 7 for myself. I couldn’t wait til we got home on the chance that Bailey’s birthday copy would be there.

I got 112 pages read on the way to the party and over the next 7 hours had small times of being anti-social and reading. I was good though and only got through another 100 pages before we left.

Finished the book at 12:45 this morning after reading for 3 hours straight once we finally home and got the kids in bed. Bailey was really excited that her birthday book was in the mailbox in a really sweet Harry Potter box (good job Amazon!).

Not going to give away any spoilers, but I really enjoyed the book.
